Summer time Is practically right Here! Summer is nearly here! In just a few short weeks highschool students around the country will be happening summer break. We receive many concerns from pupils about what they should be doing over the summer. There truly isn’t one answer.

Having read 46,000 applications, we’ve seen an array of summer experiences that high school students have embarked on. We’ve read every thing from summer programs at prestigious universities, to gaining work experience at their local mall, to climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro (literally). We admire students that pursue their passions.

Right Here is a short set of summer time activities you could pursue:

  • Volunteer at a hospital, park, library, museum or aquarium
  • Become a Camp Counselor at a summer camp
  • Train to become a lifeguard at your pool that is local, or beach
  • Baby-sit your neighbor’s kid
  • Take a college-visit road journey
  • Serve up fro-yo at your local frozen yogurt shop (get some work experience)
  • Sign up for a service or mission trip in the US or abroad
  • Tutor younger students in your chosen topic
  • Take a class at your community that is local college university

Whatever you wind up achieving this summer, be sure to look for a summer time task according to that which you love doing and not based on exactly how you think it will look on your university applications.

Transfer Decisions

In about a week we are transfer that is contacting regarding their application to USC. A handful of students have heard of their admission at this point. However, nearly all transfer applicants will receive a decision or a demand for lots more home elevators or by June 1st.

If a request is received by you to find out more:

Generally, the extra information we demand will be your spring transcript with your last grades for the academic 12 months. This demand isn’t an indicator that the student is more probably be admitted or perhaps not; rather it gives us with a more complete academic history. Once we get the additional information, you need to hear of a decision within 2 to 4 weeks.

If a letter is received by you of admission:

You will have two weeks to submit your commitment deposit if you are admitted to the fall term. During that two week period you should receive a financial aid prize (if you applied). You shall additionally wish to register for orientation when feasible. Finally, you should complete your housing application promptly, as space is limited for transferring students if you are interested in university housing.

Professional Development

Things have started to relax around the office now that all freshman decisions have already been made. We’re still taking care of reviewing transfer files, but our staff recently took a fast trip to Reno, NV to attend a conference that is professional.

While there, we attended sessions about various admission topics and best methods, such as how to provide a highly effective school that is high, what kinds of technology might be beneficial in the recruitment process, and how to read university essays while being aware of our own personal biases (positive or negative). The meeting also offered us a chance to connect with our peers from various parts of the national country, including many of your high school counselors. It in fact was a great possibility to share our own knowledge and expertise and learn from one another. Even the most admission that is seasoned on our staff discovered something new at the meeting!

Summer is our opportunity to sleep, review what we’ve learned in the last year, and prepare for the year that is coming. Develop you can perform the same throughout your summer time break!
